Cuisinart Perfectemp Cordless Electric Kettle Review – For many years I have been searching for a solution to my morning tea drinking ritual. I love to wake up, sit at my computer and check email, work crossword puzzles, and drink two or three cups of tea before I officially start my day. So the dilemma I’ve faced is this: how do I get that second or third cup of tea without going back to the kitchen, pouring more water into my cup, putting it into the microwave, and waiting for it to come to the right temperature. (And maybe it’s just me but I’m not really sure how safe all that interaction with a microwave might be.)

I’ve tried an old fashioned tea kettle on the stove, but keeping the water warm and at the right temperature just isn’t doable. Once I tried an electric kettle but it boiled the water like crazy and since I’m a green tea drinker the water was way too hot for me. I had pretty much given up on finding a solution until in my research I discovered what I consider to be one of the most ingenious kitchen inventions ever, the Cuisinart PerfecTemp cordless electric kettle.

This appliance is amazing! One of the things I like best about it is that it has specific settings for each drink:

How perfect is that? It’s like this kettle was invented just for me, or for anyone who enjoys tea or French press.

I love that the kettle will keep the water at the desired temperature for thirty minutes, so I can have the perfect water for my second cup of coffee. Is this tea brewing perfection or what?

Now to the nuts and bolts of this intriguing little gem. The kettle has a 1.7 liter capacity and a really attractive stainless steel finish. At 1500 watts it heats up fast and as I said, because of the Keep Warm option it will maintain the set temperature for 30 minutes. If you remove the kettle from its base for two minutes, say to bring it to the table to serve, when put back it remembers its setting. The controls are easy to reach while holding the kettle and because of the blue LED indicators they are also easy to read.

There is a blue backlit water window that lets you see the water level easily. The kettle has an automatic shutoff and boil dry protection. This provides peace of mind on those really busy mornings when you’re rushing to get out of the house and on the way to work you wonder, “Hmmm, wonder if I turned off the kettle?” No worries, it’s done for you!

I’m not a coffee person but I’m told that the important thing about French press, besides the beans, is the water temperature. So if you or someone you know is into coffee this would be a great appliance for you. I’ve also read that people use it for oatmeal and hot chocolate and I do love a multi-tasking appliance in my itty bitty kitchen. The Cuisinart PerfecTemp cordless electric kettle is also surprisingly quiet, a real plus first thing in the a.m.

There is a concealed heating element to prevent mineral buildup and a removable/cleanable scale filter. However, I do have to say that it does scale rather easily but it is so easy to clean. Just make a mixture of water and white vinegar and let the kettle boil 10 -15 minutes. Rinse well and you will have removed scale deposits and calcification.

This Cuisinart PerfecTemp cordless electric kettle is a little pricier than some other models, but it is such an awesome appliance I think it’s worth every penny.
