A little history

In a century whose early days were marked by The First Industrial Revolution and human power was gradually replaced by steam, many new things were born. But the infinite power of steam did not only find its application in the steam boiler distribution systems of locomotives or factories. At the end of the 19th century, when the pace of life began to gradually accelerate and there was no time to wait for the coffee to boil through the filter in a few minutes, even coffee shop owners began to realize that time is money.

Steam coffee machine from the turn of the century

In search of a way, how to make coffee faster and maybe even taste better, steam came into play again. The first steam coffee extraction machine saw the light of day before 1900 in Germany. Specifically, it was a device that used water and the resulting steam to extract coffee. It was patented as early as 1878 by the inventor Gustav Kessel.

However, in parallel with him in other countries, especially in Italy, other inventors were working on similar patents in the same field. One of them was Angelo Moriondo who kept patented a machine for instant coffee production in Turin, Italy, in 1884. This was able to control the amount of steam and water passing through the coffee mixture that was thus extracted. Compared to its predecessors, this coffee machine had the advantage of being able to make smaller quantities of espresso, as little as one cup.. Not several at once, as was common until then.

It was also at the turn of the 19th and 20th century that Luigi Bezzera built his first coffee machine. It was exactly in 1901 that he patented it. Five years later, at an international exhibition in Milan, Italy, it was presented to the general public. It was also the first time that the word “instrument” was used in connection with the the term “cafĂ© espresso”. In contemporary terms, however, it was still drip coffee prepared in a short time under a pressure of no more than 2 bar. Bezzero still offers its products today as a family-run company, now in its fourth generation.

The first post-war coffee machine with a lever

War and interwar period did not favour quality coffee. The next breakthrough in this area came after the Second World War, in 1947, when the the first lever coffee machine. It used a special system with a threaded piston and a robust spring, which was manually compressed by a lever. This made it possible to achieve a pressure of around 8 barwhich was really unprecedented for that time. The author of this groundbreaking device, which laid the foundation for modern coffee machines, was none other than Achille Gaggia. Even the Gaggia brand in Italy is still in the business of developing and manufacturing home appliances today. Back then, thanks to this man, people could taste real Italian espresso almost exactly as we know it today. Over time, further improvements were made. And then came coffee machines capable of maintaining a constant pressure throughout the extraction process, which led to even more perfect tasting coffee.

The 1960s and the conquest of space

A time of economic boom and the first conquest of space did not leave even Italian Carlo Ernesto Valente, who named his coffee machines with space-inspired names. In 1961, the same year that the first man looked into space, the the first Faema instrumentwhich maintained constant pressure and heating during the brewing process. The Faema E61 was the first coffee maker to use water displacement to pump and was thus able to achieve pressures up to 9 bar without the use of a lever. However, the world’s first fully automatic coffee machine would have to wait until 1970.

A coffee machine for every home

Early 1970s was marked by the entry of automatic coffee machines into the homes of ordinary people. As a pioneer in this field appeared Krupswhich came up with the first home espresso machine. At that time, however, the acquisition of such a machine was still quite a luxury. That has changed. in the 1990s, at the end of which she could already own an espresso machine thanks to the decreasing production costs and therefore the selling price, even the average family. It was also around this time that the the first capsule coffee machinewhich made it possible for anyone to make their own coffee at home coffee like a coffee shop. Specifically, it was a machine made by Nestlé, which patented the capsule espresso machine under the Nespresso brand in 1996.

Did you know…?

Old models or modern coffee machines – the taste of the final coffee is influenced by more factors than just the product itself. For example, the method of preparation, the intensity of the grind, and of course the type of coffee itself – the roast, the variety, the region it comes from – all interact with each other. And since everyone likes something different – bitter/sour coffee (depending on the roasting time), a little experimentation is needed in the beginning. There are many brands of coffee beans on the market, so you should try out what you really like best by trial and error.

In this process it is good take into account the water quality factor. Even small changes have an effect on the final taste of the coffee. This is especially true for water – try making the same coffee with tap water and filtered water. You will definitely notice the difference. The good news is that automatic coffee machines have a water filter in the water container as an accessory.

What types of coffee machines can you choose from nowadays?

The current range on the market is so varied compared to the past that every “coffee lover” can easily choose. However, in terms of the way coffee is prepared and the range of coffee or other beverages there is a wide range of apparatus, which can be complicated to navigate quickly at first glance. In fact, you can choose from a range of drip coffee makers, lever coffee makers, automatic espresso machines, capsule coffee makers, as well as alternative coffee makers such as mocha pots or French presses and more. What are the advantages of each type of coffee machine and who are they designed for?

Coffee drip coffee makers

Among those the simplest and oldest coffee-making machines include coffee drippers, which became the first automatic coffee makers in Czech households.

Their advantages include, above all preparation really large quantities of coffee for quite short period of time. A single cycle can thus prepare coffee for the whole family or a small office. Unfortunately, drip coffee does not boast as strong a taste or aroma as, for example, espresso produced by high pressure. There is less caffeine in drip coffee compared to other types of coffee drinks. Therefore, it is ideal for those who drink a really large amount of coffee per day or whose digestive or nervous system is hypersensitive to caffeine. Drip coffee is also excellent as a a drink for relaxing in the evening with a book or a good movie.

To make drip coffee, you need ground coffee. Depending on whether the coffee machine is equipped with a strainer or uses disposable paper filters, choose Grinding coarseness. For the drip coffee maker with a sieve, coarser ground coffee is better, on the other hand, a machine that you have to use filters, it can also cope with very finely ground coffee.

Advantages of coffee drippers:

  • Unlike other coffee makers, it prepares a larger quantity of coffee all at once.
  • Except drip and coffee only a paper filter is needed.
  • The taste of drip coffee is smoother than an espresso.
  • The drip coffee does not need to be consumed immediately, it tastes good even cold.
  • The coffee from the drip coffee maker is also suitable for for the preparation of iced coffee, coffee with ice cream or frappĂ©.
  • Can also be purchased drippersthat don’t need a paper filter.

Disadvantages of coffee drippers:

  • Resulting taste of the drip coffee is highly dependent on the quality of the filter.
  • The coffee oils that remain in the filter, which create typical coffee aroma.
  • Aroma and taste drip coffee is less intense compared to espresso.
  • The preparation of drip coffee is more time-consuming.

For whom are coffee drippers suitable

A coffee decanter definitely fits the bill for the family, where multiple people drink coffee at once. For example, Tefal digital drip coffee maker can prepare up to 15 cups of coffee. Even mothers of small children who are still breastfeeding can enjoy a hot drink prepared in this way. But especially for them it will still be a better option is to reach for decaffeinated coffee. Even though espresso contains more caffeine than drip coffee, you need to take into account that you are likely to drink more drip coffee. Fortunately, nowadays can also choose from a wide variety of high-quality decaffeinated ground coffee, making the drip coffee machine truly useful for all members of the family.who love the taste of coffee.

What to look for when choosing a coffee dripper

With a coffee percolator, more than with other types of coffee makers, it pays to to take into account the extra features. For example a timer that you can use to cleverly solve the problem with the long brewing time of drip coffee. Slower brewing can be a thorn in the side, especially for active people who count every minute. On the other hand, if you turn on the drip maker, you can walk the dog or go for a run while it’s running, for example, and then return to fresh and fragrant coffee. Or maybe you’d rather Get a drip coffee maker with a timer that can be set to have fresh coffee ready for you just as you wake up..

Lever coffee machines

How many times have you watched a barista in a coffee shop intently as he performs with a lever coffee machine? You simply need to know how to use this machine a little bit – It is actually a ritual for true coffee connoisseurs.. And that is something you have to take into account when you buy it. Therefore, if you want to prepare coffee really fast, you should reach for a automatic or capsule coffee machines.

A lever coffee machine usually consists of a water heating section and a pump, the function of which is to provide sufficient pressure. An integral part of lever coffee machines is, of course, the lever containing the metal filter. It is in its body that the main processing of the coffee takes place. Lever coffee machines usually also have a steam nozzle, which can be used to prepare milk froth for cappuccino or caffĂ© latte. But using the nozzle, like using the whole lever coffee machine, takes a bit of practice. For the first few attempts, therefore, it is necessary to to master the preparation process – the frothing and the length of the extraction. The steam nozzle can also be used to heat already cooled beverages. Incidentally, heating is also important in the case of coffee for the cups in which it is served. Even lever coffee machines can offer cup preheating, which ensures that freshly brewed coffee doesn’t get cold so quickly. And let’s face it, coffee from a heated mug tastes better somehow.

The advantage of lever coffee makers is their price., which is really interesting compared to automatic coffee machines. On the other hand, a lever coffee machine needs a knowledgeable operator, then you can prepare with it as well quality and maybe even better espresso, latte or cappuccino like with a machine.

Advantages of lever coffee machines:

  • Every step of coffee preparation you are in full control.
  • With your art and experience, you can influence the final taste of the coffee.
  • Can be prepared various types of coffee.
  • As a basic raw material it is necessary to use ground coffee.
  • They will be especially appreciated coffee fans.
  • Lower consumption electricity.
  • Less demanding Space-sensitive.
  • Cheaper than automatic devices.

Disadvantages of lever coffee machines:

  • Manual coffee grinding and weighing the corresponding quantity.
  • In addition to the coffee machine, you also need to purchase coffee grinder. For example Krups coffee grinder has 17 levels of grinding coarseness.
  • Time consuming coffee preparation.
  • The lever is necessary before each use clean it thoroughly.
  • It is necessary to know the secret of preparation the perfect coffee.

Who are lever coffee machines suitable for?

The truth is, not everyone will be thrilled with a lever coffee maker. But this one, who is passionate about the art of making coffee, likes to try new methods and does not mind that each cup will be different depending on how he/she manages to froth the coffee or whisk the milk, he should definitely get a lever coffee maker.. Making coffee with a lever coffee maker is strictly a matter of the operator, and it is the operator who determines the quality of the coffee. However, lever coffee machines are cheaper to buy than automatic and if you choose a model with a low wattage, it will also be cheap to run.

What to look for when choosing a lever coffee machine?

In the case of a lever coffee machine, the on the resulting quality of the beverages prepared by him the quality of the coffee machine, in addition to the operator’s skills. All home coffee machines (not just lever machines, but also automatic ones) must have 15 bar because of pressure fluctuations. Thanks to this, you can prepare with them a really good espresso. If you want it with a particularly thick froth and in under a minute, look for a lever espresso machine, for example. Krups Espresso Steam & Pump Virtuoso. The advantage of lever coffee machines is the relatively wide power range. Since those who buy a lever coffee maker do not usually put a lot of emphasis on the speed of coffee preparation, it is worth getting a lever coffee maker with a lower wattage. Although it will be ready for use in a longer time from switching on, it will be cheaper to run. However, higher wattage lever coffee machines are often equipped with some extra features.

Automatic coffee machines

If you don’t have much time to make coffee but still want to enjoy the best possible beverages, then bet on automatic coffee machines, where you don’t have to bother with the correct dosing of the coffee or the tedious cleaning of the machine afterwards. An automatic coffee machine will, at the touch of a button, make the coffee for a particular drink because doses the coffee itself, brews it with the appropriate amount of hot water, and once the entire procedure is complete, it deposits the waste in a designated container, which is then emptied. It is therefore the the simplest and most convenient way of making coffee. Unfortunately, automatic coffee makers are the most expensive of all types of coffee makers and they also need to be cleaned and descaled regularly. On the other hand, there are automatic machines that use both beans and ground coffee, and for added convenience you can indulge in a model with a milk system that can also whip up its own milk foam for your favourite coffee drinks. Even with automatic coffee machines, you can choose a machine with a steam nozzle. Again, however, a bit of practice and effort is required.

Advantages of automatic coffee machines:

  • Making coffee is really easy and incredibly fast.
  • Automatic instruments can be used as to the home, so and to the company.
  • Part of the coffee machine is always grinder.
  • Automatic cycle Rinsing and descaling.
  • Beverage preparation from freshly ground coffee at the touch of a button.
  • No additional cost for a coffee grinder or a milk frother.

Disadvantages of automatic coffee machines:

  • Higher Price.
  • Larger space requirement.
  • The devices tend to be compared to other types of slightly noisier (thanks to coffee grinding).
  • Necessity of careful maintenance of the milk ducts – In the case of milk beverage production, hygiene must be really taken care of (ideally after each use), because in addition to rinsing the milk container and the tubing, the “head” of the machine, where the milk flows, must also be cleaned.

Who are automatic coffee machines suitable for?

Automatic coffee machine will be appreciated by every coffee loverwho likes to enjoy it in several cups a day and maybe even likes to experiment. However, he does not want to deal with the details of its preparation, does not want to grind the coffee by hand or whip the milk. The entire process of making coffee in an automatic coffee maker takes place independently of the operator. Although you pay extra for this luxury, on the other hand, the operation of such a machine is then already relatively cheap. The automatic espresso machine will delight both single household, so a family with children, but also appreciate it mothers on maternity leave or Staff in the company kitchen.

It should be noted that in the production of coffee milk beverages, both the maintenance of the coffee machine and the quality of the milk are important – Both affect the resulting taste. Fresh and full-fat milk is better for thick froth, so for the easiest maintenance it is advisable to choose a coffee machine that you can connect directly to the milk box. Otherwise, connecting a removable milk container (plastic, metal or glass) to the coffee machine will make maintenance more challenging.

How to connect the coffee maker to the milk box? To prepare the milk foam, you only need the hose that comes with every coffee machine. You tuck one end of the tubing into the head of the coffee maker, the other directly into the carton or milk carafe. This eliminates the need to pour the milk into containers that must then be disassembled and cleaned. At the end, the tubing is rinsed under water and the cleaning of the milk circuit of the coffee machine is automatic. The result is creamy, thick foam and minimal maintenance.

What to look for when choosing an automatic coffee machine?

When choosing an automatic coffee machine, focus on its equipment, quantity and type of beverages prepared. These devices are usually equipped with a built-in steel or ceramic grinder with the possibility of adjusting the grinding coarseness in several degrees. The question to ask is how many coffees the new machine should be designed for.

The cheaper automatic coffee makers have only a few drinks on offer. Perhaps everyone can brew a great espresso or a lungo or americano. The more sophisticated and, of course, more expensive machines can also handle making coffee drinks with milk, such as for example a cappuccino, a cafĂ© latte and/or a latte macchiato. If you love these milky coffee drinks and want to indulge in them regularly, it’s better to get an automatic coffee machine, this is for example Krups Intuition Preference. However, if you are buying a coffee machine more for espresso and you only want to enjoy milk drinks occasionally, you will be fine with the a cheaper model with a steam nozzle such as the Krups Essential.

Capsule coffee machines

Capsule coffee machines are relatively inexpensive. This is why they have won over many coffee enthusiasts. In addition, their operation is really simple. It consists of filling the water tank, inserting the capsule into the machine, which causes the cap to burst, and then pressing the button. Thereafter, water starts to heat up in the flow heater, which is then fed into the capsule by means of a pump. And from there, of course, into the cup below. After use, the capsule is simply discarded. Capsule coffee makers cannot be adjusted in any way. You can only influence the amount of the beverage by the volume of water you pre-fill in the reservoir. The bonus is that with a capsule coffee machine, a wide variety of drinks can be prepared really delicious taste. However, it is more suitable for smaller or single households or for occasional coffee preparation.

Advantages of capsule coffee makers:

  • Choice from many types of capsules and drinks.
  • Simple operation.
  • Quick beverage preparation.
  • Ideal for single household or for a couplewho rarely indulges in coffee.
  • Low price coffee machine.
  • The apparatus is usually space-saving.
  • Option preparation of hot and cold beverages, e.g. iced tea.

Disadvantages of capsule coffee makers:

  • Inability to brew drink from freshly ground coffee.
  • Cannot prepare more than one cup at one time.
  • Capsules are quite expensive.
  • There is a lot of waste in the preparation of coffee, which is bad for environmental impact.

Who are capsule coffee machines suitable for?

Capsule coffee makers are the perfect choice for those who don’t want to deal with setting the detailed parameters of a particular beverage. They are ideal for both female and male single households, as well as for busy mothers who don’t allow their children more than a few minutes to prepare and enjoy their coffee. They will also be appreciated by those who enjoy decaffeinated coffee and other types of beverages, such as white coffee, coffee with chocolate, etc. All you need to do is to fill up the water in the reservoir, insert the capsule into the coffee maker and wait a few seconds for your drink to be prepared after pressing the button.

What to look for when choosing a capsule coffee maker?

Make sure it is the coffee machine is capable of producing a constant pressure at least 9 bar, optimally 15 bar. Be interested also in the volume of the water tank and adapt it to the size of your family. For a single household, a 0.5 litre tank is sufficient, a family of four with children will need at least 2 litres. Parents can make coffee and children can make delicious cocoa.which can also be purchased in capsules. Find out the wattage of the coffee machine. This determines how quickly the machine heats up after starting. It does not affect the final taste of the coffee. Therefore, if you want to save money on electricity, choose machines with a lower wattage. With a capsule coffee maker, you can brew virtually any hot or cold coffee or non-coffee beverage. You are only limited by your choice of capsules.

What kinds of coffee and coffee drinks can you make at home?

In addition to classic espresso, double espresso (doppio) or a long espressa lungo, which most even the cheapest automatic coffee machines can handle, can also produce other coffee drinks at the touch of a button. Even at home you can enjoy the perfect cappuccino in the same quality as your favourite cafĂ©, enjoy a caffĂ© latte or revel in the ephemeral beauty of a latte macchiato, which you’d better get transparent glasses with a capacity of at least 250 ml.

Espresso

All automatic coffee machines have an espresso button. It is a traditional coffee drink whose cradle is Italy. It is created by extracting coffee under high pressure. For espresso to taste like real Italian espresso, a precise process must be followed. How to do it? Prepare approximately 8 grams of freshly ground coffee, ideally straight from a coffee grinder with adjustable grinding coarseness. To this, add water at a temperature of around 91 °C, which you run through the coffee at a pressure of at least 9, but optimally 15 bar. The following must also be observed the extraction time around 25 seconds. If you get it all right, you’ll get a cup with about 30 ml of intense coffee that you won’t soon forget. Is that too complicated? Then just press the button on the automatic device and it does it for you.

In addition to the classic espresso, there is also double espresso, which is referred to as espresso doppio. Double the amount of coffee and water is used for its preparation. So you get twice the amount of the same intense drink as a classic espresso.

A less intense espresso is then referred to as an espresso lungo. The resulting quantity is double that of a regular espresso because it is also used to prepare twice the volume of water. But the coffee is still 8 grams like espresso. It is usually served in a cup with a volume of at least 120 ml, so that the ratio of cup size to coffee quantity corresponds to a classic espresso.

Espresso macchiato

Why not drink espresso with milk? Because it’s drunk with milk foam. That’s what espresso macchiato. The original method of preparing this drink consisted in inserting a spoon with a little milk foam into the crema of the espresso. However, automatic machines prepare it by placing a cap of milk foam on top of the espresso in the cup. The espresso macchiato is thus more like a cappuccino at first sight, with a smaller volume. But the strong taste quickly convinces you that it is espresso.

Ristretto

This drink is sometimes also called small espresso. But you can also meet with the name piccolo. Its preparation is similar to espresso, but differs in the amount of water used. It is usually only 22 ml. The characteristic feature of ristretto is a really intense and strong coffee taste with a thick to creamy foam on the surface. Due to the fact that ristretto coffee is processed faster in the coffee machine, it does not contain as much caffeine as a classic espresso. The cradle of the ristretto is Naples, Italy, so if you ever pass by it, be sure to indulge in its original taste. You will need really finely ground coffee to make a ristretto at home, so it is better in this case too to the care of an automatic machine. and experience the real Italy at home.

Cappuccino

This drink is especially popular with members of the fairer sex. Preparing a truly perfect cappuccino at home is not easy. It is necessary to provide for her espresso, hot milk and milk foam, all in a 1:1:1 ratio. The froth should be at least 2 cm high and really thick and creamy. Therefore, it is advisable to use for its preparation full-fat milk containing more fat than normal to help achieve and maintain the correct consistency and texture of the foam. However, some machines can also handle the preparation of milk foam for cappuccino from semi-skimmed or even coconut milk.

Caffé latte

Both of these beverages are among the must-have choices of luxury automatic coffee machines. A caffé latte is essentially a drink composed of regular espresso and a larger amount of milk. This is usually around 200 ml. A caffé latte is served in a large mug of around 250 ml. The drink consists of two layers and is often confused with another coffee drink whose name sounds similar. Latte macchiato unlike the caffé latte, however, boasts an instant three layers, and is therefore served in a tall glass with a transparent wall, in which its texture is perfectly revealed. The difference between these drinks, however, can be noted during their preparation. While in the case of the latte macchiato the espresso is poured into the finished milk, in the case of the caffé latte the espresso is topped up with milk and milk foam.

Latte macchiato

How is a latte macchiato actually made? The first step is frothing the milk foam, which is used to fill the glass in which the beverage is to be served. In the course of the next minute, the foam partially separates from the milk, and it is at that moment that the the right time to add the espresso. This will flow under the foam and settle in a layer above the milk. It will, of course, leave a noticeable point of entry on the foam. The resulting drink thus, as in the case of a caffé latte, contains 30 ml of coffee and 200 ml of hot milk with foam.

Americano

This is espresso diluted 1:5 with hot water. The drink can be prepared in both ways, by pouring water into the espresso, but also by pouring the espresso into the water. The crema is really only minimal in the americano and dissolves quickly.

Approximate amounts of individual ingredients (coffee, water, milk and milk foam) for selected coffee beverages

Type of beverage Amount of coffee Volume of water Milk volume Milk foam volume
Espresso 8 g 30 ml
Ristretto 8 g 22 ml
Espresso lungo 8 g 60 ml
Espresso dopio 16 g 60 ml
Espresso macchiato 8 g 30 ml 10 ml
Americano 8 g 180 ml
Cappuccino 8 g 30 ml 30 ml 30 ml
Latte macchiato 8 g 30 ml 180 ml 20 ml
Caffé latte 8 g 30 ml 180 ml 20 ml

Steam pressure and water temperature

In case you opt for any of the automatic coffee makers that work with high pressure, inquire about it, what maximum pressure the machine can develop. However, this is more or less just a control issue, because although the recommended pressure for espresso in pro coffee machines is only 9 bar, due to pressure fluctuations all home coffee machines are equipped with 15 bar. This makes the process of maintaining pressure throughout the extraction process much easier., not just at the beginning – to get your 30ml cup of espresso really well frothy, you need constant pressure for at least 30 seconds. At the same time as pressure, don’t forget to look at the temperature of the water. This should be between 88 and 92 °C.

Power

Is every minute precious to you? Then definitely when choosing a coffee machine, pay attention to its power consumption. This is what determines how long it takes to heat up the machine after switching it on before you can make coffee. At the quality of the coffee in your cup however, this parameter has no effect.

Grinding coarseness

Automatic coffee machines with a built-in grinder always allow you to adjust the coarseness of the grind as well. This is important if you want to be able to control the taste and aroma of your drink. It is true that the coarser the grind, the longer the extraction should be. This means that for a beverage preparation lasting a few tens of seconds, a rather finer grind is needed. In contrast, if you overdo it with the fineness of the grind, the result will be a very strong drinkwhich can taste unpleasant. However, everyone tastes differently, so you need to test the appropriate grind for your espresso on a few cups. From this point of view, it is preferable to buy a coffee machine whose grinder allows you to adjust the grinding coarseness in several grades. In this context, you might be interested in Quattro Force technology with active high-speed grinding, hydraulic tamping, optimised pairing unit and self-cleaning system for perfect coffee every time. Some coffee machines with integrated grinder also offer the option of making drinks from ground coffee.

Adjustable spout height

Thanks drain height control options can be used in home coffee preparation cups and glasses of all sizes. Therefore, you can keep a single device conveniently prepare both a small espresso and, for example, a latte macchiato in a tall glass.

Steam nozzle or automatic milk frothing system?

This is a common dilemma because steam-jet devices tend to be cheaper. But it is more work, and if you don’t know how to use the nozzle, you could get scalded. On the other hand, the steam nozzle is quite practical. If you would like to coffee drinks with milk in a single squeeze, then it’s better prefer a coffee machine with a milk solutionthat can handle the preparation without your assistance. However, in this case you have to take into account the maintenance of the milk circuit and the need to disassemble it from time to time.

Automatic cleaning and descaling

Most higher-end automatic coffee machines offer this feature. Unfortunately, even in this case, however, you cannot avoid purchasing cleaning and descaling products that must be used as part of the descaling program. The good news, however, is that all of these necessary operations will be carried out by the machine itself.. Just press the button and give it time. The maintenance system of the coffee machine is usually associated with lights on the display that provide timely information on the status of the machine.

Multiple cups at once and their preheating

If you expect the whole family to want to make coffee after lunch, for example, choose a coffee maker that allows you to make 2 cups of coffee at a time. You won’t have to wait so long. A convenient option is also to preheat the cups, which will make the coffee cool more slowly, its the aroma will have a chance to develop better and the perfect crema will last even longer.

Water filtration

Some, especially automatic coffee machines, are also equipped with water filterswhich are designed to remove the undesirable chlorine aftertaste from tap water, as well as limescale, which not only negatively affects the taste of the resulting drink, but also settles in hard-to-reach parts of the device and can be the cause of its premature failure. These filters need to be changed at regular intervals.as it becomes clogged with use. The harder the water in your home, the more limescale it contains and the more often you will need to change the filter. The average interval, which also depends on the intensity of use of the device, is around 2 to 3 months.

Water tank

The water tank is an integral part of automatic coffee machines. The convenience of its use is particularly affected by whether it can be removed from the machine and filled or cleaned independently of the coffee machine. Its volume is also important., which you should adjust to the size of your family. It usually ranges from 0.5 to 2.5 litres. For a family of four, the optimum a coffee machine with a reservoir of at least around 2 l, a single household can make do with 0.5 l.

Additional superior features and design

Some coffee machines may offer other practical features such as cup lightingwhich is particularly practical early in the morning or Smart Slide display technology – a highly intuitive and easy-to-use interface with an adjustable display design (similar technology is used in smartphones). Many will appreciate that some devices can be controlled remotely from a mobile phone or tablet. Additional features include the ability to save your favourite settings, then traffic lights or preparing two drinks simultaneously, including those with milk foam.

But a coffee machine is not just a technical marvel, it is a common appliance that must fit into the style of your kitchen or office. and complement it with its appearance. You no longer have to choose only from black, white or silver models with an angular shape. Rounded curves, but also extravagant design combined with a wide range of colours will take care of that, so you’ll be happy to show off your coffee machine.
