Reverse osmosis (RO) is a water purification technology that uses a semi-permeable membrane to remove dissolved impurities from water. It is often used to purify drinking water and to remove salt from seawater for desalination. RO systems work by applying pressure to force water molecules through the membrane, leaving dissolved impurities behind. The purified water is then collected on the other side of the membrane, while the impurities are flushed away. RO systems can effectively remove a wide range of contaminants, including bacteria, viruses, and dissolved minerals.
